Nextiva vs MyFax: Feature Review

MyFax vs Nextiva

Pricing and Plans

Nextiva vFax is an affordable internet fax solution with a 20 percent discount on its monthly prices. Regular pricing is as follows:

  • Essential: $9.95/500 pages
  • Professional: $18.95/1,000 pages
  • HIPAA Compliance: Contact sales

MyFax offers more expensive monthly plans than Nextiva vFax:

  • HomeOffice: $12/200 pages
  • Small Business: $25/600 pages
  • Power User: $45/1200 pages

Nextiva is a good alternative to MyFax for HIPAA compliance

Nextiva vFax is a secure platform with the option to subscribe to a HIPAA-compliant plan. It uses SSAE-16 certified SOC II audited data centers in North America. The provider has strict physical security measures, with security scanners, 24/7 security, and bullet-resistant glass. Session Border Controls and monitoring tools protect its network. Every fax uses 256-bit SSL encryption to keep it safe from prying eyes. However, you cannot fax via email if you choose HIPAA compliance for Nextiva vFax.

MyFax doesn’t mention its security features except for encryption. Unfortunately, even its Corporate plan is not a HIPAA-compliant alternative to Nextiva. If you need HIPAA compliance, MyFax will direct you to eFax’s Corporate fax.

Unlike Myfax, nextiva allows faxing via fax machines.

Nextiva vFax lets you use its virtual fax service with your physical fax machine. The Nextiva Fax Bridge connects your device to your Nextiva vFax account. You can configure the Fax Bridge to print all inbound taxes automatically or only on specific days and times. You can also set it to print confirmations for outbound faxes automatically.

As a Nextiva alternative, MyFax only offers internet faxing without physical fax machines. It’s best for businesses that want to ditch traditional fax machines and prefer cloud fax.

MyFax is a better alternative to Nextiva for mobile faxing.

MyFax provides Android and iOS apps so you can fax from your mobile device. You can use the app to send faxes, subscribe to local or toll-free numbers, upload files and scan documents, add custom cover pages, manage fax contacts, access fax storage, and print faxes using Google Cloud print.

Unfortunately, the MyFax alternative, Nextiva vFax, doesn’t provide a dedicated app for faxing. Faxing is limited to fax via email or the Nextiva vFax portal. Subscribe to one of Nextiva’s business phone system plans for mobile app faxing. This app provides unlimited voice calls, free and local numbers, unlimited internet fax, SMS, team collaboration tools, call recording, and more.

Both fax services lack fax signing features.

Neither Nextiva vFax nor MyFax offers features to add eSignatures on fax. You have to use another service to  digitally sign your faxes.

They also do not offer APIs

MyFax doesn’t offer an API or any other app integrations. You can only fax via email, mobile apps, and the web portal.

Nextiva vFax doesn’t have a fax API or any integrations with other software. However, its business phone plan subscribers can integrate their accounts with multiple apps like Zoho, Salesforce, Google Workspace, and more.

Nextiva and MyFax have fax broadcasting features.

Nextiva vFax lets you send one fax with up to 10 attachments (max of 5MB) to only six recipients at one time using the Nextiva vFax portal. Those using fax via email can only send to up to five recipients.

MyFax has better broadcasting abilities, allowing you to simultaneously send one fax with up to eight attachments to a maximum of 50 recipients. This mass faxing feature applies to online faxing via MyFaxCentral. Faxing by email limits recipients to 9 fax numbers.

Only MyFax supports international faxing

MyFax lets you fax to hundreds of countries. You only have to enter the recipient’s fax number with their country code and hit send.

Nextiva vFax doesn’t support international faxing, so Myfax is the better choice.

Both services offer monitoring features and status tracking.

MyFax provides an activity Log, which displays the faxes received and sent. The log includes the date, time, number of pages, fax transmission duration, charge incurred, receiver’s details, and the sender’s fax number. It also shows you the fax status, which marks faxes as failed or sent. Faxes that fail to send will have a resend link, which you can click to make another fax delivery attempt.

Nextiva vFax’s dashboard shows all the faxes you received within the past six months. Its fax confirmation page displays the fax status. Moreover, you can set up text notifications for faxes sent and received.

Verdict: Nextiva vs MyFax

When choosing between Nextiva and MyFax, the decision boils down to your needs. Nextiva vFax offers a hybrid fax solution for users who prefer using a regular fax machine while experiencing the benefits of virtual fax. It is also less expensive, costing around $0.02 per page. However, MyFax provides other features that Nextiva vFax lacks, including international faxing, mobile apps, and better fax broadcasting abilities.
